what & where: 108 sun salutations on Big Bay beach (in front of the Blue Peter hotel). a sun salutation is a flowing sequence of 11 simple yoga poses linked together with the breath. when done in succession, they are invigorating, joy inducing, and they become a moving meditation.
when: sunrise (5:30am) till ~11. all 108 sun salutations takes about 2 hours. so, do all 108, or however many you feel and show up anytime in between!
how: here's a link to the sun salutations if you're not familiar (http://www.rateyoga.com/img/surya-namaskara-A.gif). bring your own mat or towel. no cost.
why: to come together in love and harmony with each other and nature. to enjoy the sounds of the breath become one with the sounds of the ocean. most of all: for fun and inspiration!
why 108?:
The number 108 carries spiritual significance throughout a wide cross-section of cultures:
• 108 is the number of "Upanishads" comprising Indian philosophy's "Vedic texts"...
• 108 is the number of names for Shiva in Hindu philosophy...
• 108 is the number of names for Buddha...
• 108 is the Chinese number representing "man"...
• 108 is the number of beads on a Catholic rosary...
• 108 is the number of beads on a Tibetan "mala" ...
• 108 is twice the number "54", which is the number of sounds in Sanskrit...
